Chaya Sushi and Grill blends
the best of
traditional Japanese cuisine with
both a sushi bar and a robata grill.
Chef-owner Peter Yamamoto previously owned the popular Hibachi-Ya, on Northwest
Highway near
Bachman
Lake which offered traditional Japanese favorites. Pete decided that he wanted
to focus on sushi and went back to Japan where he apprenticed.
|
| |
The
results of his hard work are presented at Chaya
Sushi and Grill. Chaya is Japanese for "teahouse", where
you will
be most welcome - and you will feel that way from the moment you enter. The
mauve and black interior invites you to sit and relax while the window coverings
block the activities of the outside world. |
| |
Sushi lovers will enjoy the freshest seafood available
for sushi and sashimi. Pete and his sushi chefs are highly skilled in their authentic
and artful presentations. A house specialty at Chaya is the Sushi Ten Shin
- four bowls of rice, each topped with a different fish and presented in a divided
box - was recently called a "visual
and textural work of art". Be sure to listen when the chef tells you about
his specials for the day and you'll be delighted with what's put before you!

The robata grill is new to Dallas
and something
everyone is sure to love. The char grilled items can be ordered in small servings
in the same way sushi is ordered, or as entrees from the menu. Robata grilled
items include seafood, meats and vegetables. |
| |
Favorites include:
- Chicken Yakitori - Skewers of chicken with teriyaki
sauce
- Ginger Shrimp - Gulf shrimp with ginger sauce
- Sirloin Steak - Char grilled sirloin with ginger
soy sauce

Chaya offers a nice selection
of Japanese beers and
sakes to enjoy with your meal in addition to several American wines. A new addition
to the sake list is the Momokawa Mellennium Series.
There are four delicious styles offered. |
| |
The service at Chaya is professional
and helpful,
so please don't hesitate to ask questions. The more you learn about this delicious
cuisine the more there is to enjoy. |
