Our
Popular Back Room Bar . . . where the regulars dine and drink!
When Dunston's was four years old in 1973, we decided to expand
by adding a new bar area at the back of the restaurant. It
started out just to be a bar with seating at the bar, itself,
and with small tables like you would find in most restaurant
bars. We had no idea it would become what it has become today!
It
wasn't long before some of our regular customers asked if
they could order dinner and eat in the bar. Of course, we
accommodated them. Soon, they asked for larger tables so,
once again, we said sure. Before you knew it, we had replaced
all of the small cocktail tables with regular sized dining
tables and the back room bar tables became those that were
most often requested. Now it is the favorite eating spot for
many Dallas and Park Cities regulars. Once you've been there
a few times you'll find the rear entrance, a favorite of those
"in the know", and will quickly become one of the
regulars, too!
Courtesy
of our many regular customers, our back room bar is also known
by other names. Often called "The Cheers Room",
"Brook Hollow East", "Maxim's East", and
"The Country Club", the bar is unbelievably popular
and friendly, as the nickname "The Cheers Room"
would suggest. And while regulars always use "their own
entrance" and request tables by number, there's always
room for new patrons. Occasionally, you'll even find a few
games of gin rummy or dominoes in the early afternoon.

We have happy hour Monday through Friday and provide an excellent
selection of hors d' ouvres. In addition, we pride ourselves
on our generous 3 ounce pour, a rarity in most bars today.
And you'll enjoy the same cozy, warm and inviting atmosphere
that Dunston's is famous for. Casual, comfortable and filled
with the memorabilia from over 34 years in business, we invite
you to request seating in our popular bar room anytime you
come to Dunston's.
Our
back entrance is easily accessed from the ample parking available
behind the restaurant. You can reach the parking lot from
either Inwood Road or Preston Park, which intersects Lovers
Lane just east of the restaurant.
One of our favorite customers made this plaque for us and
gave us yet another nickname, the Horseshoe Bar & Grill
. . . "home of the "honest" drink & steak".
You'll find it mounted on the wall when you come in our back
entrance. And it's absolutely true. At Dunston's we pride
ourselves on pouring an "honest" drink and serving
a top notch steak at a price that "won't put a hole in
your pocket"!
